The Federal Court has found that the ABC unlawfully terminated journalist Antoinette Lattouf's employment. Her employment was unlawfully terminated on the basis of political opinion.

The court found that ABC senior management did not terminate her employment on the basis of race and nationality. The court also found the ABC's decision to terminate Lattouf's employment was made to "appease pro-Israel lobbyists".

lol they're going to backflip on YouTube, so now Google is Big Mad, and the Coalition is rubbing their face in it from the sidelines (while not taking a position themselves) and Snapchat and TikTok are all going to be yelling about YouTube and this is all such an obvious mess that was predicted in advance by many people.

It's 1991, and a republican president is embroiling us in a bullshit war in the Middle East.

It's 2003, and a republican president is embroiling us in a bullshit war in the Middle East.

It's 2025, and a republican president is embroiling us in a bullshit war in the Middle East.

Obsessed by this amazing piece of shade perfectly delivered by *checks notes* my school of public health.

@daedalus @MrAndrewD @stephengentle @airshipper The Australian Labor Party has always despised the internet. Since the 1990s, the absolute worst internet policies have always come from those assholes.

The coalition is *mostly* (with obvious exceptions) all “laissez fair let’s just step back and be Libertarians and keep the government out of it,” but the ALP has *always* seen the internet as a tool of social control and has never stopped doing the most mind-alteringly stupid things with it.

It’s a fucking disease. Globally unique, these assholes are literally the worst in the world at this stuff.

@airshipper @stephengentle The Labor Right loves them some authoritarianism, too. Remember the previous attempts to ban porn and put a filter on everyone's Internet? And AABill and TOLA and all the other things they waved through and then pretended to be sad about.

In summary, the trial is a farce. It's testing a few things that might be sort of interesting, but not testing a lot of the things that will actually matter.

And they don't appear to understand some of the important issues around privacy and security, but they mistakenly believe they do.

There is a pre-determined outcome and they are trying to find a way to write something that looks like it justifies that outcome, provided you turn your head sideways, squint and don't think about anything very much.

@tqft they don't wonder they "so lack curiosity about the events that surround them that they are often taken by surprise"
@daedalus and then the gov wonders why were so cynical and don't trust them
