adventures in pixie land part 2. I have created a DDS so I can tune into pretty much anything between 80m and 10m using the pixie. #AmatuerRadio #Ham #DDS #pixie #CW. The DDS is my own design using an esp32c3 with the display on I2C and the AD9851 on SPI. I have got 3GPIO pins left on the controller so I should be able to make a band switch for the output tuning (as well as a case to mount everything in. The whole thing is powered by 3x18650 cells in series, and I’m using a repurposed USB cigarette lighter charger to make a 5V rail for the esp32. Needs a few suppression caps on the supply rails.

The Australian Parliament is awash with funds from the Gambling lobby. #Labor won’t dare touch the golden goose. But they are a bunch of career politicians, with very little apparent awareness of the damage done to ordinary Australians by gambling. Peta Murphy has been forgotten. Pet peeve: using ‘traditional’ when what is actually meant is ‘conventional’ or ‘historical’ or even ‘superseded’ or ‘obsolete’. IMHO tradition refers to a cultural practice or religious observance, not a scientific convention, or a rejected theory. A tradition could never be proven wrong or inaccurate in the way that a theory might be, because the origin of tradition is not scientific endeavour. #TraditionVSConvention #Language
Made an #Unun for HF (64:1 impedance ratio). Still needs a bypass capacitor (on order) to deal with the leakage-inductance of the transformer winding. But the VSWR of 1.09 (according to #NanoVNA) at 5.5MHz into a 3.9k load looks promising. #Hamradio #AmatuerRadio
