Little FYI;

I am NOT earning ANYTHING from mstdn.social 😉 In fact it's the opposite, Every week I work about 40-50 hours for a company so I can earn money and pay for the servers, domain, media storage and email services and don't get me wrong. I'm VERY happy to do that ❤️ and I will NOT stop doing that for a long time!

We do get donations and that's a BIG help! But still I need to pay much from my own pocket so keep that in mind. We are not a company, we are not Twitter, we drive on #love! ❤️

@suhrith and I wrote a piece on the Ayodhya judgment.

https://www.thehindu.com/opinion/lead/peace-bought-by-an-unequal-compromise/article29975254.ece

We asked if the judgment is legally correct; and if isn't, whether it is nonetheless justified as an act of "judicial statesmanship" that lets the country move on.

We believe that the answer to both those questions is "no".

Peace bought by an unequal compromise

We must be wary of verdicts that align cleanly with what appears to be the dominant public sentiment at a given time

The year is 2040. A 15 judge bench of the Supreme Court of India is sitting on the question of whether a review petition filed against the decision of the 13-judge bench in 2036 on whether another review petition filed in 2031.....
"I'm engaged"
Rest of the world: "Congratulations"
India: "love marriage or arranged marriage?"

So, you only want devices to "aid these heroes". You are comfortable with providing equipment to make their job easier, but God forbid, these "heroes" must not abandon the practice of cleaning sewers, right?

The reason this Tambrahm guy is shamelessly calling the victim a "hero" is because he thinks such a job is inevitable; someone HAS to do it. His Brahmin conditioning will never allow him to think "Why must such a job exist? Why do only certain communities do it?"

"without a whisper of violence or even punishment – simply, the fear of disappointing your parents – caste ensures its own survival, even in lands and cultures distant from its place of genesis."

How India deludes itself that caste discrimination is dead | Aeon Essays

Indian society deludes itself that caste discrimination is a thing of the past, yet it suffuses the nation, top to bottom

Revolting to see Advani and co being labelled as "leaders of temple movement" instead of being called out for what they did. Chilling that the rewriting of our historical narratives has just begun.
More and more I'm convinced the fascist Hindu majoritarian govt is not a blip but the logical conclusion of Indian nationalist project that led to 'independence'
I think I'm now in a firm belief that as long as a central govt, union exists there is never going to be any sort of social justice or even any semblance of it.
