I kind of like it better when the media stays lost, but the memories keep piling up.
Because, then, the idea of ever finding it is like finding a time portal to another place, another lost era that was forgotten for some reason, but obviously important in unrecognized ways since so many remember.
When lost media is found that sense of time travel being possible ends. And you can listen to it, or watch it and say "eh, OK I kinda see why it got lost"
But before that! Anything is possible!
