@jackwellborn @atpfm I needed to connect a Sony Handyman Hi-8 video camera from the early 2000s into my Mac.

Mini-FireWire to FireWire 400 to FireWire 800 to Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C).

I turned it on, my MacBook Air automatically launched iMovie and I could capture old family tapes. Indistinguishable from magic!
