sooooo Microsoft did automatically install Copilot on my Windows 10 computer. Checking has revealed that I probably had this fucker on my computer for (at least) 15 days without realizing it, which is. super great.

I had previously thought only Windows 11 users needed to worry about this, but I was wrong! Learn from my mistakes!

Because I am in the back half of rewriting this draft, my brain has provided me with a half-dozen ideas for NEW PROJECTS I CAN START AND NOT FINISH.

- podcast by gremlins about French castles which gradually becomes more and more surreal

- contemporary romance about hereditary members of a secret society founded by a Jacobean cheesemonger/serial killer

- new book covers for everything with INTRICATE VINES

- eleventy billion more books in the Goblins & Cheese universe

MIT engineers have designed a programmable drug-delivery patch that could help the heart heal after a heart attack. The flexible hydrogel patch, applied directly to the heart, releases three drugs in sequence over two weeks: one prevents cell death, another spurs blood vessel growth and a third blocks scarring. The approach mimics the body’s own healing timeline, restoring heart function far more effectively than traditional treatments. https://news.mit.edu/2025/new-patch-could-help-heal-heart-1104?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email

Hey, New Yorkers, time to put all that joy and enthusiasm to work: demand that the city council allocate .5% (yes, HALF of a percent) of the city budget to the city's libraries--because fuck Eric Adams, and because you NEED those libraries to work properly.

You can use the link below or contact the council directly, but you NEED to act.

This musing brought to you by translating some headlines from the Boston Globe for a letter I'm writing.
I feel reasonably confident I am at a solid A2 level in Portuguese now (maybe even elbowing my way into B1), but I've now studied enough languages to know the amount of work it's going to take me to keep improving. Feeling a bit discouraged.
