The statement by #Namal is seen as yet another attempt by the powerful Rajapaksa family to reach out to the Tamils who are still hostile to the Rajapaksa. The north and eastern parts had overwhelmingly supported Gotabaya’s rival Sajith Premadasa in the November 16 Presidential polls

Work for SL Tamils' welfare, Rajapaksa tells TN leaders

Slamming politcal parties' remarks on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's election, Sri Lankan MP Namal has asked them to refrain from issuing “self-centric and opportunistic statements” and instead focus on uplifting the lives of minority Tamils in the island nation. Political parties had earlier dubbed 'unfortunate' the election of Rajapaksa as  President.

Where are we heading? Why is religion being placed prominently before everything? He is a qualified professor who has mastered Sanskrit. To say he can't teach Sanskrit just because he is a Muslim is nothing but bigotry. When Hindu temples play renditions by Christian singers, why can't we have Muslims teaching Sanskrit? All that matters is knowledge and love. Not the faith of the person who teaches.

Just look at the etiquette of Kerala's Education Minister sitting down with the kids offering respects to a historian.

Something which you don't see often in Indian politics, unfortunately. Not just because they don't have the proper etiquette, but also because they don't meet historians, at least not real ones.

6 decades of Kamal Haasan

An innocent Kamal Haasan, then just four years old, emoting as an orphan in the song ‘Ammavum neeye, appavum neeye’ (you are mother as well as my father) in the Tamil film ‘Kalathur Kannamma’ (1960) is an enduring image of his six-decade-long career. After 60 years, four National Awards, 19 Filmfare awards, a Padma Bhushan and innumerable classics that placed Indian cinema on the global map, Kamal, now 65, remains the man obsessed with perfecting the art.

What's happening here at #Fediverse is the true network effect.

There are no paid advertisements. People inviting other people to join the network that is built democratically from the bottom up and has the idea of federation built in.

Without federation, we couldn't really challenge the hegemony of Facebook or Twitter, or Google or Youtube.

It becomes very clear that the idea of #Federation is the key not only for digital platforms but social movements as well.

Educate! Agitate! Organize! and Federate!
