I didn't get around to a number of digital projects, and I'm putting off some things for tomorrow.

But today was the last day of my most recent woodworking class, so I'm very pleased to show off the table I* made. It's all white oak, although there's surprisingly much color variation!

The half-blind dovetails were cut with a router jig, and most other cuts were done at the table saw. Basically all of the joinery is dominos. Super pleased.

*With a great deal of assistance and guidance.

For three years, I have been planting garlic and it has not grown. Nobody has good advice for me because they're all "I just stick it in the ground."

This year, I decided that The South Garden Bed Is Cursed and is only fertile in summer. I moved to another spot.

Results? Garlic! I am excited. Now I wait 5 months. Gardening is the slowest form of cooking.

I grew up in a city. I didn't play in the dirt. I didn't like dirt.

Three years ago I started gardening. Some successes, many failures. But I just harvested out my tomatillos and feel like "hey, I'm getting the hang of this!"

Lots of people talk up the "do scary stuff" element of being adventurous. But also, do new stuff which isn't scary! I love gardening now, and can't imagine living without a garden.

Midsummer, this pumpkin vined up a pole which was there for another plant and fruited 5ft off the ground. When I realized, I tried to ease it down to the ground, but heard worrying cracking sounds. I ran to the garage and grabbed more poles, twine, and cut a stretch of bug netting to make a sling. I hastily constructed the support system and tested it roughly with my hand.

This pumpkin is one of my prides of the garden this summer.

This is a toot about software development.

I have 15 or 16 backlogged essays I want to write, but a new one may have to jump the queue. I'll put some thoughts down about how we deal with grief in public.

Alex, a.k.a. Danger Noodle, The Minace, Noodle Butt, has lymphoma. And I'm not doing much FOSS work and I'm making DPO posts from my phone while she naps in my lap. And that's fine.

But man it sucks. It's awful. And sometimes I want to reply to open issues with "I'd love to help you with this but I just can't. I can't."
