Web developer, I like bouldering, books, and privacy. I post random tidbits.

Looking for #work in IT sector, especially web development area is absolutely insane in 2024-25.

- Most jobs are posted via agencies that explicitly state in their PP that they share your data with dozens of third party "partners"
- Job posted 50 minutes ago - 100+ applications received
- Most jobs are looking for senior devs/full stack only.
- Good chunk of jobs are crypto/AI nonsense
- "ghost jobs" that never reply and never hire
- Absolute joke benefits "package"

"When hounds howl at nothing, the howl at me! I am treason and treachery! I am pillage and plunder and poison thought!!"

"I am only what man have made me! I am a beast of unburdening. I only exist so men may blame me. So every grinning thief and glutton, every boy with bed unmade, might have a scapegoat god."

"I am but a flint the All-father strikes. I am fire and flame. I am Loki! The loathsome. The blamed."

Absolutely beautiful take on the trickster god!

I would like to commission an artist to draw a D&D themed vector art that will be laser printed on a wooden box. Digital art, crisp and precise.

Example picture attached - something in that general direction.

#Tintype #photography is exact opposite of modern approach of taking hundreds of pictures and picking ones you like. Tintype is a rejection of immediacy - you are not taking a picture, you are creating an image.

By virtue of its own medium Tintype is very meticulous, intentionally deliberate process, a focused consideration of composition, intention, meaning of to-be-taken picture.

End result is an intensely personal object, full of meaning and intent of its creator.

Been thinking about natural gardens and low-friction things that could be done to improve #biodiversity.
#Stumpery is no-maintenance collection of logs/sticks/stumps thrown together that provide shelter for #hedgehogs, snakes, frogs and myriad of different bugs.
You could arrange it neatly for display, akin to rockery. Or you could throw it in a pile in the shady outback somewhere if you have space.
Its not a lot of work, and can really go a long way in providing shelter and hibernation homes.
Concept of "Ikigai", your raison d'être, is a lifelong #journey of self discovery. It will require deep understanding of oneself, years of self-reflection, decades of experience. Something that by definition can never have an ending. A constant process of self-exploration throughout life journey.
As the world demands more and more of our attention, driving instant-gratification over long-form enjoyment, we look inside ourselves less and less, and #Ikigai becomes ever more elusive.

#Samhain festival.
The vibrant summer ends, and the darkness of the winter takes over.
The gods of winter and the spirits of the dead creep in from the other side at night.
They lit Samhain bonfires to invite the spirits of good ancestors.

Beautiful #Gaelic origins of #halloween.

Isle of Scilly fascinates me with its slow submergence. Around 8000BC it would have been a single archipelago. Now, sunk and eroded over millennia, only a collection of islands remain. When the tide is low, you can walk where you would have scuba dived when the tide is high.
Isle of Scilly boats the greatest concentration of Bronze Age remains in the country.

When it comes to no-utensils #outdoors #cooking you can rely on the old faithful - meat wrapped in clay and put deep in the fire.
But there's another less known method - steam using moss. Probably not gonna work for a large hunk of meat, but wrapping fish in sphagnum moss and placing over medium coals would do the trick beautifully.
