We took a walk alongside a river swollen and coloured by recent rain but occasionally I noticed small pockets of calm, eddies where the sunlight was falling and creating reflections of overhead boughs still heavy with green leaves.

Been on hiatus to regroup, recharge. Hope everyone is well!
This photo was taken yesterday in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada... and it's still snowing there - a state of emergency has been declared.

I know what it's like to be appetite of your own appetite, / citizen of what savages you, / to dare bloom pleasure from your wounds— / and to bleed out from that bouquet.

I don’t want to hear thoughts and prayers. I don’t want to hear Republicans discussing their freedom and their fraudulent rejection of a well-regulated militia. At this point, anything other than banning assault rifles is condoning mass murder.

To work within the structure of words, is to become an architect of possibility, an engineer of imagination. It is to create a place of shelter and repose, to invite others within, so that we can learn how to see, how to dream again.

"Writers have always led us beyond the reality we currently inhabit. They have showed us things we hadn’t yet imagined were possible." (Jacob Nordby, Blessed Are the Weird)

With the wind chill factored in, the current temp in Chicago is 9 degrees. I hope #today is the last of wintry weather here. C'mon #Spring

What would it mean to live
in a city whose people were changing
each other’s despair into hope? –
You yourself must change it. –
what would it feel like to know
your country was changing? –
You yourself must change it. –
Though your life felt arduous
new and unmapped and strange
what would it mean to stand on the first
page of the end of despair?
