@marcoarment Agreed with the sentiment, but the call of staying true to the founders doesn’t resonate within Apple. Apple engineers tend to think about doing what’s right for the user. In my years at Apple (during and after Jobs) I’ve never heard anyone mention “founders” as a concept to draw inspiration from. WWSJD is rarely a thing. Woz is never mentioned and has no significance in the company culture.
@alexr And be flooded with AI slop PRs? They’d be swamped.
Me: this documentation is ambiguous, can you clarify?

C++26 is done!
Yesterday I checked and Clang had still not fully implemented C++20 (or subsequent C++23). But sure, keep throwing more stuff on the pile.
@danluu PRs containing ads should get closed automatically with no examination and the initiator should be blocked. They are spam.
@vitaut Microsoft Visual Sudo
I wish it was smarter about writing stripes as well. Clearly it chokes when it’s packing small files, but does pretty well with large files. Maybe create the stripes locally and copy them over in bigger chunks.
@catsalad I will not be quantized

If I understand Meta’s chip strategy correctly, it’s “invest in everything all at once”. They’re buying GPUs from nᴠɪᴅɪᴀ and AMD, TPUs from Google, NV Grace and Vera CPUs along with the standard x86 vendors, whatever this thing is with Arm, several other things I forgot, and they’re making their own chips as well (they just announced an accelerated release cadence for these). Must be a lot of fun for the people maintaining their AI stack.

I wish Time Machine would tell you what files it’s synching. Because I have no idea how a machine that was powered off for months has 80gb of data to sync.
