If you like cartes.app as I do, take a minute to contribute to their page on Alternativeto to help others discover the app.

A precursor: 2005, La ville rangée, by Armelle Caron

Funny how we build on the shoulders of giants (or simply other humans)

I was amazed by "Odonymie à Rennes" (2025, Quentin Nahélou), which animates streets from a map to a small-multiples chart to spirals.

Turns out that the main graphic idea was created in "Brussels Streets Gender Inequality" (2023, Karim Douieb).

Turns out that the idea of small multiples of streets was created in "Street grids" (2015, Neil Freeman).

Turns out... I don't know, but surely other artworks inspired him.

A trick I noticed in successful mini-games: the user interacts with the *simplest possible gesture* and repeats it to progress.

https://100jumps.org/ - press and release

https://cantunsee.space/ - hit 1️⃣ or 2️⃣ keyboard key

https://schoolofcities.github.io/city-guesser/index.html - select an option (a button would be better than option+button)

https://jeu2048.fr/ : swap / four arrow keys

I also think a crucial UX element is to show the progression.

Is it theorized? (even if it seems obvious). Do you have more examples?

Color by number

An activity for your children.

Reposting this tool I did in 2020. It still works well, and my children loved it!

Tired of .ai or .io? Why not use .vermögensberatung for your next web app?

Today I used Iterator.zip for the first time.

JavaScript still lags a bit after R or Python for #DataScience and statistics tooling, but this new helper saves a lot of boilerplate.

Experimental, only in Firefox.

New object on Hugging Face's Hub: HF buckets 🪣.

They should be
⚡ faster than git (HF models/datasets) because no history is kept,
⚡ faster than S3 buckets (aws/gcp) because only new chunks are uploaded.

They are compatible with hf:// URLs (fsspec), so they work natively in Pandas Polars or DuckDB.

If you try them, I'm interested in your feedback!
