Relieved to hear @sleepyowl is out, though less relieved to hear that it wasn't a false alarm.
Hope everything goes ok from here.

I want everyone who says "this is the law, distros need to comply" I want you to explain a plausible set of circumstances to lead to the following:
* That the AG of California will sue a random Linux distro which has effectively no money
* Prove who the OS distributor actually is (is it the committers? Committers of what part? Their bank account with $12 in it?)
* Prove by preponderance of the evidence how many children used the OS in order to set the fines
* get a judge and jury to think this isn't a massive waste of their time
* That it isn't just a violation of the law but is a "negligent" or "intentional" violation
* all the while, the OS maker and everyone else having effectively zero knowledge of who uses it since there's no continuing relationship with users.
How does all of this happen?
Top FEMA Official Claims He Teleported to Waffle House.
FEMA's Gregg Phillips says he has experienced multiple "scary" episodes of sudden teleportation: Phillips spoke "on multiple podcasts" about being teleported against his will, which he has...

It looks like the βΌ saga has finally ended!
The unicode character 'βΌ' was a mystery first noticed in 2022: https://ionathan.ch/2022/04/09/angzarr.html. It's in the Unicode standard as a mathematical symbol. But no one could find any examples of it having been used, and no one knew what it represented. It was like the only record of an extinct species, fossilized in the Unicode standard.
But now someone has found the document it originally came from! It represents the angle 'Azimuth', and the symbol probably comes from the path light takes through a sextant. https://ionathan.ch/2026/02/16/angzarr.html
(@johncarlosbaez might appreciate this symbol!)

an appropriate song for the moment:
Gather 'round while I sing you of Wernher von Braun
A man whose allegiance
Is ruled by expedience
Call him a Nazi, he won't even frown
"Nazi, Schmazi!" says Wernher von Braun.
Don't say that he's hypocritical
Say rather that he's apolitical
"Once the rockets are up, who cares where they come down?
That's not my department!" says Wernher von Braun.
Some have harsh words for this man of renown
But some think our attitude
Should be one of gratitude
Like the widows and cripples in old London town
Who owe their large pensions to Wernher von Braun.
You too may be a big hero
Once you've learned to count backwards to zero
"In German, oder Englisch, I know how to count down
Und I'm learning Chinese!" says Wernher von Braun

'cuz gods know it sure the fuck ain't safe for any of us trans folks to do it, and it's not like we, as an interested party, have any ability to change matters.

In the short term, this is not as dangerous as an outright ban on estrogen. If implemented and then combined with other methods of suppressing trans people, it might be far more destructive in the long term.
Can we just put it bluntly?
If you're vibe-coding open source, you are *not* doing open source.
To do open source, you must be creating source code that both has clear provenance *and* the new code you're writing is IP you have full rights to offer under compatible license. As is quickly becoming clear, that second one is getting tested and failing legal checks in places like the US.
