If you're new to contributing to Django and you're using an LLM, please consider reading this. We want to bring you into the community, but we can't do that only interacting with an LLM's output.

Know someone who'd give a great #Django or #Python talk? A teammate, a friend, someone you saw speak at #pyladies? The DjangoConUS 2026 CFP is open and first-time speakers are especially welcome.
Deadline: March 16, 2026

Q to my fellow #Django maintainers:

How do you deal with AI contributions? I believe I can fairly easily detect slop. However, it's usually dangerously close to code from an inexperienced engineer. How do I make sure not to insinuate and crush young engineers? I want to maintain the wonderful growth culture of the Django community while being mindful about my own capacity.

My talk for @djangoconeurope was accepted 🥳 🥰

Time to start writing it...

I'm also a speaker!
My talk is "Django Has a Marketing Problem: Debunking the Myths That Won't Die"

If that interests you, please attend! I'd love to have a discussion about the talk and feedback is also really welcome 💜

I'm particularly looking forward to @pauleveritt's talk "Open Source in the Age of Coding Agents" and Travos Oliphant's talk "Community > Code: People Are What Make Python Thrive, and Why That Will Continue in an AI-Enabled Era".

These both feel really topical for the challenges open source maintainers are facing atm 👀 so hoping for inspiration maintaining Django 🤞
