A few of our findings...

Last year @tegabrain and I contributed an essay to the book "Are You a Software Update". For our research, we scraped the names, descriptions, and funding totals of around 17,000 "AI" companies from crunchbase.

You can explore this sad, searchable archive for yourself at: https://aicompanies.labr.io/

Deaths from conflicts involving the U.S. military are totaled for every year between 2001 and 2025. Each conflict has an estimated minimum and maximum death total based on available data. Maximum death estimates include an estimate of indirect as well as direct deaths.

An individualโ€™s death contribution is calculated by multiplying their tax contribution by a yearly deaths/dollar ratio (total deaths / defense department inlays from income tax).

A form which calculates an individualโ€™s "income tax body count", or the total number of conflict-related deaths they have caused through their income tax contributions to the U.S. government.

The projects explore very immediate, poetic, and humorous forms of resistance, refusal, and subversion that push back against tech fascism.

Condensed into scores, manuals and how-toโ€™s, the 13 works create a frameworks for action. They address everyday shifts or propose strategies meant to be shared, repeated, and adapted by others. Rather than demanding compliance, these instructions invite participation, interpretation, and refusal.

I wrote a short thing about "unconventional" carbon credits, making the world's first (??) income-based carbon footprint calculator, and trying to determine the avoided emissions benefit of Brian Thompson's homicide.

Excited to announce I have a new job! I've just joined the faculty at Parsons as their new (and only???) Assistant Professor of Synthetic Media and Algorithmic Justice.

Really happy to be officially back in NYC. Also, I'd like to give a big thank you to my former department at UT Austin for all the support over the past few years.

(image of me transforming into Jeff Bezos is unrelated)
