Places other than the US absolutely have to take over basic observational Earth science. The amount of money involved is minuscule but other countries have gotten using to the US doing it and they have to accept the new reality which is that the US is not going to be trustworthy for a long time.

The first two don't really make sense to me. A virus can "evade safeguards" and a meteorite can "destroy things", so I don't think there has to be much agency involved in the first place.

The latter seems more like a more fitting criticism, but in all three cases I'm also not sure how one were to phrase it alternatively.

@pluralistic @rainer Also, IANAL, but may be you already have reason for complaint, because according to EU law, on the website‘s imprint they need to provide an e-mail. I guess if they reply to this e-mail that it is not monitored and you should use a chatbot instead, that it is in violation of that law (if not of the letter at least of the spirit). @pluralistic @rainer I think they probably do not need to offer any „complaint process“. On the EU website it says „If you want to file a claim for lost or damaged luggage, you should do it in writing to the airline within 7 days, or within 21 days of receiving your luggage if it was delayed. There is no standard EU-wide form.“ If the airline does not respond to your letter, then you have grounds to complain to the EU, I guess.

@skyglowberlin It doesn‘t have to be. I more or less have the same setup, when I need the windows machine, I just turn it on and go in via remote desktop. Although I have to admit, the windows machine has a small monitor and keyboard and mouse attached to it, but they are stored under the desk unless I am doing something graphics intensive, like gaming. It should be possible to run a windows machine completely headless, afaik.

@skyglowberlin @itgrrl This might not be what you want, especially if you really need a hardware solution (e.g. for playing games), but did you consider using the „Windows App.app“ (I know!) from Microsoft to control your windows machine via Remote Desktop? It‘s free and works quite well.

Außerdem: ich nehme an, dass die, die dieses Werkzeug nutzen wollen, die Nutzung lokaler Modelle als bürokratische Übervorsicht abtun werden und vermutlich gar nicht wissen, wo man an ihrer Einrichtung lokale Modelle finden würde. (Und wo kein Kläger, da kein Richter) Außerdem spart man nur Zeit, wenn man eben nicht abgleicht, ob im Arbeitsprodukt Halluzinationen in Bezug auf den Antragsinhalt enthalten sind. 1/

@tschfflr @DNB_Aktuelles Wir hatten deswegen damals ins Impressum unserer Pfadfinderzeitung geschrieben: „Als Manuskript gedruckt. Nur für den internen Gebrauch.“ Angeblich entfällt dann die Abgabepflicht.
