get out your ukulele and strum "yearning just for you" along with me

Another song with many optional additional verses published, along with numerous alternatives across the many different recordings, this one appears to have been a big success while still being regarded as a minor novelty. I don't know why Ralph Butler chose to publish under a pen name, but perhaps he didn't feel it fitted with his usual compositions.
Regardless, it's a light and jaunty piece that basically takes all of the things usually extolled in songs of the time and notes that they're not as much fun on your own. Whispering Jack Smith's popular recording showcases his trademark soft crooning, but it's not a song that requires any unusual style or spoken verses.

i was inspired to write a 2015 style blog post with my suggestions of 5 v. easy things you can do like right now to be playing more ukulele and having more funnnnn

grab your soprano and/or baritone ukulele and let's play "tonight you belong to me," written by Billy Rose and Lee David in 1926
(timestamps: 7:40 for soprano playthrough, 14:14 for bari)
download your own copy of the sheet music via the link in the video description
if you end up strumming along, will you please tell me how it went? 💖

at this point in my life i'm not sure how many hours i've logged toward understanding what Lyle Ritz was doing in his ukulele playing in that Bernadette Peters / Steve Martin scene in that one movie but I've gotten as close as I can to making an arrangement that normal people can also play ;)

you can learn this arrangement inside the Swing Ukulele Academy at Ukulele Swing School, details here: take swing uke lessons: http://www.ukuleleswingschool.com

tonight you belong to me, a tune from 1926 made perfect on the ukulele sometime after 1956 (according to my copious research--a podcast episode on the topic is coming soon)
