When I don't go down rabbit holes, I sometimes do something useful. OCaml.org maintainer.

my life always seems to bring me back to building a social network of some kind

and this karaoke site is the most glorious yet and I'm actually shipping things and able to respond to bug reports and feature requests fast enough to keep up

@karaokecrowd is a really fun project because I can just post on Reddit and ask for help and people tell me about more karaoke nights I didn't know about 🥹🧡

OCaml Users Survey 2026

This survey is configured to not use an existing Google Account to save your progress (which will be lost if you close your browser or click the back button before finishing the survey). None of the questions are mandatory. Please do not enter any personal information in the free-form text fields as the summary of the results and the raw data will be made available to the community (we will of course redact any personal information we detect, but we may still miss some). As an official OCaml online space, this survey has adopted the OCaml Code of Conduct. The free-form text fields are provided to gather constructive feedback from the community. Any comment that is a clear violation of the CoC will be expunged from the results before making them publicly available. Thank you in advance for your participation! This survey will be accepting answers until May 25th 2026 (AOE).

I feel like AI tremendously improves the situation for startups in Germany bc we now have more resources to implement all the legal requirements lol

using ChatGPT image generation to incrementally improve on existing UI feels underrated

easy to have a deep conversation about the purpose and goals of the pages side by side with getting UI ideas before even writing any CSS or HTML

do I know anyone who runs a podcast or other kind of publication where this topic would fit:

building a community-maintained database of karaoke nights in OCaml

this touches on organizing herds of people to build something bigger, bringing data to life, being a social network without being a social network, and building with AI agents and OCaml

if yes, please send me their links 🧡

is anyone into spreadsheets and karaoke?

if yes. I have something interesting going on at @karaokecrowd

working on spreadsheet import tomorrow and need more karaoke gig spreadsheets 🥹😘

listing in directories does apparently have some effect

though the highest DR backlinks aren't even directories 🥹

been hunting for two weeks now for the root cause of why Facebook analytics fetching wouldn't work in FeedMansion despite apparently having the right scopes

turns out that `pages_read_engagement` is NOT sufficient, you also need `pages_read_user_content` 🤦‍♀️

I think I'll finally have the analytics page working for Meta AppReview now 🥹

today: fixing the bugs and problems with the Facebook / Instagram / Threads analytics import, so that we can get AppReview approval from Meta to get the analytics scopes for these platforms for FeedMansion

(also using the Mention feature for the first time to cross post and mention FeedMansion - it only works for some platforms so far, LinkedIn not among them)
