An awkward potterhead and trekkie. I write as a hobby but mostly fanfics. I have a few original stories being worked on too.
I also heavily support #OpenSource software and #Privacy efforts. I use #Kubuntu as my main driver.

Currently posting on AO3:

Remember in Democratic countries, the people have a say. There is more than one way to make your voice heard. The catch is the politicians know this as well. They just hope you didn't notice long enough for them to take that voice away. Look what's happening in the UK and Former US.

Resist.

The FCC’s WiFi router ban is “an extremely blunt instrument, and it’s going to impact many harmless products in order to stem a real problem,” EFF’s @legind told CNET. https://www.cnet.com/home/internet/fcc-bans-foreign-made-routers-as-national-security-risk/
Is Your Wi-Fi Router Safe From the FCC Ban? Nearly Every Major Brand Is Impacted

The crackdown on foreign-made routers labeled a "national security risk" affects most major router brands.

They say the best way to learn is by doing. I've always agreed! For example, I've spent the day attempting to set up a self-hosted instance of NetBird. In the process, I've learned the limits of my patience and that I'm a stubborn, cheap SOB.

The resistance against age verification is growing.

There's now a dedicated Linux distro that stands against it. 😼🗿

Ageless Linux Emerges to Protest OS-Level Age Verification Laws

And thankfully, it's more than just a Linux distro without age verification.

It's FOSS

So I went into #sonarr to import new episodes of a show. The show is not important. What's important is the loading screen told me, "Remember to rewind your shows."

This made me feel both nostalgic and old at the same time.

This is the exact reason I require a free AO3 account to access my work. If any AI model gets ahold of my work, they've not only violated AO3's policy, they've also intentionally accessed my work with the intention of theft. That means I'll have enough money to retire and be able to purchase every big name AI company and put a stop to their immoral practices.

To give an insight (and sneak-peek) into the types of revisions I make, here is a line from my upcoming book. The first is the original draft, the second is the edit.

Picture it, Anne and Elijah in the Ready Room. Elijah is fighting with the replicator...again.

Original: "You know it can simply make the coffee for you."

Edit: “You do know replicators have this fascinating capability of making a cup of coffee for you.”

I saw this coming a while ago. That's why as someone who frequently travels into the former United States and criticised the regime on other platforms, I made a shift to more privacy respecting systems and platforms. Their overreach is sickening and worrying. We need to dump big tech and take back our privacy and right to our own opinions.

I couldn't figure out why people were posting pictures of rabbits and making mention of some sort of bunny event.

In my defense, I'm not a big sports fan.
