Just published: the Guix-HPC activity report:
https://hpc.guix.info/blog/2026/02/guix-hpc-activity-report-2025/
It's really "Guix for science". not just HPC. Improved tooling for scientific workflows, streamlined deployment on clusters, and efforts toward user awareness and support.
Mozilla has a new CEO who:
- Has been at Mozilla for less than a year
- Has no prior open source experience (but well in "fintech" and "real estate")
- Has a MBA (aka "brainworm diploma")
- Is all-in on AI
That’s exactly the kind of bingo profile the whole community has been waiting for.
Hey Jamers 😎
Since the release of Atlas: Jami’s biggest step toward reliable communication, work hasn’t slowed down. On the contrary: the past few months have been about tightening the bolts, cleaning up edge cases, and making day-to-day use more predictable and reliable.
Check out our Dev Update 15: https://jami.net/dev-update-15/
I have just released version 1.9.0 of the #TLP #Linux #powersaving tool.
Enjoy the brand new #tlp-pd (TLP Profiles Daemon) for easy profile switching with a mouse click!
tlp-pd replaces #power-profiles-daemon by implementing the same D-Bus API that major Linux desktop environments like GNOME, KDE and Cinnamon already use.
Supporting the GNOME Foundation directly enables us to take on more initiatives like this, paying community members to deliver impactful work. Help us reach 1,500 #FriendsOfGNOME before the end of the year by donating today: https://donate.gnome.org
What features or initiatives would YOU like to see the GNOME Foundation take on in the coming year?
I wrote a blog post about the often stated but never explained assumption that communities in graphs should always be connected.
This “connected cluster axiom” is inconsistent with statistical significance and null models that underlie the most widely employed methods.
⚠️ The Free Software Foundation Europe deleted its account on X ⚠️
The platform never aligned with our values and no longer serves as a space for communication. What initially intended to be a place for dialogue and information exchange has turned into a centralised arena of hostility, misinformation, and profit-driven control, far removed from the ideals of freedom we stand for.
