Out of surgery, and the most relaxing 6 hours of sleep I've had here.

If you do break your leg, I'd highly recommend doing it 1km from Europe's largest trauma hospital if you can...

A lot of the NHS is pretty bad but there are some *really* good parts and the trauma teams at the Royal London are one of those.

@gerwitz I think a lot of work now goes into fixing this on ICUs, where errors are much more serious, but they don't care elsewhere.

On the list for surgery tomorrow, assuming I don't get bumped by any emergencies.

I've not seen the CT scan of my knee but the surgeon described it as "rather a mess".

The sheer quantity of alert fatigue (and just bad alerting design) in this hospital ward is frightening. Incessant beeping that I can't even block out with earplugs.

Thanks for all the well-wishes!

I'm stuck in hospital until I can get surgery (hopefully in the next few days). Somehow managed to score a private room, I have IV painkillers, and the wifi is good enough for streaming, so it's not too bad.

Food is provided by Serco...

@cms needs a few screws in it so I'm stuck in hospital until they can do that

Managed to break my leg on some brand new, surprisingly invisible, cycle infrastructure.

A kind person had to get me to hospital in an Uber because that's apparently the ambulance service now.

I continue to suspect that if the web browser were invented today it would be banned
That was a fair amount of rain and it was blowing in exactly the wrong direction. My house leaks in several places but only if the rain is blowing this way...
I really need to fix this leak.
