Telling. Quantity of male versus female dialogue in best picture films of recent decades

(by @puddingviz)

Ever ask how to do something, and instead of receiving an answer, you are questioned why you want to do that thing? And suggested to do something you don't want to do instead?

The whole "AI" industry is just based on the hope that they can deskill people fast enough that they'll have to rent back cognitive support systems. Forever.

It's like Uber. Just that they don't try to break existing transportation infrastructures but your brain.

Tradeoff? Weight. The Tokina is a metal build chonker. Supposedly this design is closely based off a french cinema lens - I can honestly believe that.

Kinda shocked how much lens quality matters. I forget.

Left is a vintage zoom vs. a standard canon kit lens. Same focal length, aperture, etc. The sharpness is nicer, but the blur is too! Look at that smeary, smudgy canon bokeh 🥀

Now, I'd advise this is best in lens groups where the housing holds the elements TIGHTLY together - the oil is not glue and any movement may scuff the image. The refractive index may be close enough here that IMO image quality is good enough.

Vintage lenses sometimes have cemented lens groups, using Canada Balsam - from trees. It goes bad, becomes hazy, rainbowy, and needs fixing.

Today we test if mineral oil can suffice as a replacement. Long term? Who knows! Right now? Yes. It somehow does.

The Macbook Neo is wonderful, purely due to a low end device potentially forcing Apple to optimize macOS for once.
