@stroughtonsmith I don’t feel like that’s a very fair response. You chose to bring up the initial topic that involves something that I wrote, and when I go to defend myself, you say that you would rather talk about something else.
@JPZ @stroughtonsmith The entire internet and world aren’t the same anymore. I wish everything sucked less too! We cannot control what people choose to say, and if the moderators do try to do their jobs, they are criticized no matter what. Over-moderating. Under-moderating. There is absolutely no winning on that front.
@stroughtonsmith Hi Steve. Apple is not using Vision Pro 2 or Vision Pro (2nd generation) branding anywhere. The only thing was one sentence in the press release making a comparison to the “previous generation,” but the overall marketing makes no attempt at positioning the new model as a second-generation model. My writing that you screenshotted helped to set expectations just fine.
To emphasize how much more affordable out-of-warranty MacBook Pro speaker repairs will now be, Apple Stores/AASPs can order 2 speakers for ~$40 USD total instead of a whole "top case" for ~$500 (profit margin & labor extra). We're talking a 90% decrease. Way less wasteful, too.

Also, I have an update to this: According to a reliable source, Apple is giving technicians access to individual speaker parts for ALL 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with Apple silicon, going back to models with M1 Pro and M1 Max chips!

Satechi makes nice stuff. For the new Mac mini, this hub will add an SD card slot, bring back USB-A ports, and allow you to add up to an additional 4TB of storage without having to pay Apple's expensive upgrade prices.
Sadly, it is not available until spring 2025. Pricing not disclosed yet.
