Kinda got a wild idea last night to try learning Fortran. And y'know? It's not as difficult as I thought it'd be. Plus I like being able to say I can write subroutines and work with allocatable arrays. Sounds so vintage :3

Subroutines are actually pretty neat - whereas functions in most other languages take arguments and return a value, a Fortran subroutine modifies its arguments themselves. Pretty handy tbh.

Oh, by the way, generative language models, despite hundreds of millions of dollars being dumped into them to be shoved down everyone's throats still suffer from the same fundamental flaws that've plagued real AI systems since the term was coined in 1956: the symbol grounding problem.

So... Samsung store decided to send me notifications for ads for bs I don't care about, all of a sudden. Found out that not only can I not uninstall it, but I can't silence notifications either. What the absolute fuck? This is MY phone. No company has the right to control what I do or want with my property.

I know, I know, a lot of you already know this; but I've done my best to work with it. But this goes too far. Might end up switching to another brand because of this tbh.

Something that's been really hard to shake these last few days: nobody cares.

Nobody cares if I leave a chat. Nobody cares if I transfer a chat to someone else and leave it. Nobody cares if I don't show up to an event. Nobody cares at all.

So why fight it? Why worry about what someone else would think if nobody cares?

If nobody cares, why don't I just leave?

Is it really so much a conspiracy theory to think that the main reason why so many big tech companies are shoving "AI" into literally everything that doesn't need it is so they can gather and control as much data as they can on you?
