@jpm Go well. I did it in 2019 and it sucked, but completing it (first of only two RKL2's to do the full distance) and raising a bunch of money for charity is one of the proudest I've ever been.

So I went there, and saw the devastation he had wrought unto himself. I stayed almost 3 weeks. Got him into a plan, and a health clinicn. All he had to do was wait 10 days for a psych bed to open up.

The day I left, hid did it again, but properly.

And it has been a long road since then. Finally, he was cremated last week. And that sent the whole family off. Me included.

My wife's baby brother has always been "our boy". We never had kids, at least partially because Erin was 14 years older than her siblings and did a lot of child raising by the time we met..

In September, he made a very serious attempt to on his own life. He lived in Berlin, so I(as the only family member who speaks German) went to try and help him.

I guess this is where my smallest group is, so here is the deal. TW: Bad things.
@nwreg Yeah and it’s been a couple months. I’d never “welfare check” someone but gee I am holding down that impulse.
One of my best pals has retreated into a depression-hole. I’ve been where they are, and I know that just turning up and “helping” doesn’t work. But boy howdy is that the impulse.
I love how every now and then Photos.app on macOS will bork the local library and the only solution is to delete the entire library, create a new one, and hope that iCloud still has every digital photo you've taken since 2003.

@slevelt If you have a connection to Defence Health (a grandparent who served will do, and they're very soft with that requirement), that's the good stuff. Inexpensive (at relative terms) and they'll throw a stent into you at the drop of a hat.

Maybe @Kels_316 has more informed opinions on this one?

@slevelt Heyo, friend. Happy to help out. Is this "I live in Australia and would like to survive a stroke" advice or "I am an expat and don't want to die of tetanus if I stand on a nail" advice?
@stilgherrian I am SO mad at you right now.
