Remember the VC-funded social network that I had pointed out had problematic cryptocurrency space funding, but folks said "don't worry their CEO can be trusted and knows what she's doing"?

Their CEO just stepped down, and now it got $100m more VC funding largely from more cryptocurrency space folks:

"Don't worry, it's decentralized!" – well, let's just say I am not holding my breath for that either.

@VoltEuropa The walled gardens of #2 do also count for #1. With public funds, we want real public public code. Not a walled garden that you can look at but cannot interact with. If the public community cannot do PR's, or they are not accepted then the code is only audit-able, nothing more.
@munin the web is becoming fake and untrustworthy, it is being replaced by AI and apps. The web is basically dead.
Google Search is now using AI to replace headlines

Google is beginning to replace news headlines in its search results with ones that are AI-generated. After AI clickbait nonsense in its Google Discover news feed, it’s starting to mess with headlines in the “10 blue links” too.

What a great conversation between Senator Bernie Sanders and Claude. And the conclusion is that not only privacy, but democracy as a whole is at risk.

@hans @JeroenBaten dirty commie!
@JeroenBaten this is difficult, but not impossible. Copying (part of) a neural network depends on how similar the neural networks are, otherwise you can not do it on this level. Then you would fall back to relearning your old conversations to the new AI. But with a different neural net, the outcome might be different. So in the end you are asking for a difficult thing in my opinion. But what you are saying is right. The lock-in is real!
