I finally opened System Settings, searched for “tab”, and found Keyboard Navigation turned off. Some Tahoe update did this automatically.

@256 I began using macOS at work during the latter half of the Leopard release cycle. It was already magical, but when Snow Leopard dropped I was certain I wanted to migrate. My first decent paycheck went into a MacBook Pro.
