For over a decade, AVcheck offered a convenient service: upload your suspicious file, and it would tell you which anti-virus detected it
Handy, right? Especially if you’re a malware developer trying to avoid detection
The site was careful not to share uploads with security vendors. Suspicious? Slightly.
Law enforcement has now shut down AVcheck, which had been quietly enabling cybercriminals to fine-tune their malware for years.
Good riddance.

What I'm getting from this SquareX SAN's presentation on "Browser-Native Ransomware" is that... we need to just do the basics. The basics being block ads, manage browsers (and extensions), and train users.

Texas police say they used Flock to search for a woman they believed had had a self-administered abortion for her "safety." I call bullshit.
The sheriff said the woman self-administered the abortion and her family were concerned for her safety, so authorities searched through Flock cameras. Experts are still concerned that a cop in a state where abortion is illegal can search cameras in others where it's a human right.
