If ever there was a time or reason for people to rethink their dependence on GitHub... Now might be it.

GitHub will be folded into Microsoft proper as CEO steps down

Microsoft bought GitHub for $7.5 billion in 2018.

Well, my laptop had a bad weekend.

All "link protection" services that are used to rewrite and redirect links to their intended target are garbage.

Security vendors, such as Proofpoint, Microsoft, Sophos, Barracuda, Mimecast, and countless others need to stop. Their services are actively being abused, they're not doing anything about it, and it's just another example of the enshittification happening to email and the Internet.

It doesn't make email more secure. They're nothing more than click-tracking and link obfuscation tools being used by bad actors and unscrupulous tech companies.

Pour one out for the GitHub admins...
I made this point a few weeks ago, but... outsourcing all your IT, Networks, Service Desk (helpdesk) and operational cybersecurity is a temporary cost saving and basically paints a ticking timebomb on the org, IMHO.

So *that's* what the Trump administration is using for their new toilet paper supply.

Book publishers see surging interest in the US Constitution and print new editions

The Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution aren't only being read in classrooms these days. Sales for book editions of the founding documents have surged to record highs since President Donald Trump began his second term. On Wednesday, Random House announced it would publish new volumes of the Declaration, the Constitution and the Federalist Papers. Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Jon Meacham has written introductions for both books. During a recent interview with The Associated Press, Meacham said he hoped the documents would help readers make sense of a “tumultuous” time.

I think the Chris Krebs situation really underscores that the "infosec industry" and the "infosec community" are very different things.

Cybersecurity industry falls silent about Trump admin targeting Chris Krebs and Sentinel One.

I should point out I’m not silent - the Trump administration is spreading obvious falsehoods and trying to use executive power to seek revenge. It will empower America’s enemies, and it is reminiscent of late Soviet Union.
