@0xjams I haven’t jumped in on SSO, just have manually set up accounts on the various VMs. My router handles captive portal stuff, by I just have an isolated guest network on a timer and a password that I hand out to visitors.

How are others managing their timeline? I usually jump to current and then scroll until I run out of time, lose interest, or start seeing posts I’ve seen. I’m missing posts from folks based on the times I check in. I don’t want an algo based on engagement, but I’d love a view that only presented previously unseen content if I continue to scroll (understanding that this “seen” state has to be stored somewhere). Any #Mastodon clients have this type of feature yet or in development?

In the past I also ran a variety of #Minecraft servers for the kids, an Apache Guacamole server to allow the #CyberPatriot teams I coach to compete remotely during C19, and an instance of https://github.com/alan412/ev3hub for the #lego #robotics teams I coached to use for source control. It’s fun to have the capacity to just spin up a VM to play around with some new/interesting/useful tech. 3/3

I have a file server(family photos and persistent backup to cloud), web server, Pi-hole DNS, a Windows VM I can RDP into if I need to run something that can’t run on my Mac, and a couple of VMs to play around with https://chia.net storage-based cryptocurrency. It’s definitely not #homelab quality, but it works. 2/3

After WHS met its rapid demise, I moved things over to run on a variety of VMs - Currently I’m running qemu/libvirt/kvm on Ubuntu 22, and have several VMs running. 1/3

#techjoy I have a thing with double-checking that doors are closed and locked. A couple years back we added a Genie Aladdin Connect unit to our garage door. I also have a manual override that can lockout the door being opened by Aladdin Connect or any remotes. I have notifications when the door is opened or closed, or if it’s left open too long or after hours. Sometimes peace of mind is adjacent to joy. #homeautomation

Now the way the Internet Archive is doing mastodon is how more organisations and celebs should be joining the fediverse!

They have a dedicated in house instance, which lets you identify official staff, and gives them control and security over their content, whilst also allowing people and instances to opt in or out of interacting with them
