Happy #MuseumSelfieDay!

And a *very* happy birthday to our museum director Mike Pringle, who's 21 again.

Remember, Nature Tots (Lite edition) starts tomorrow, 14th January!

We will resume songs, stories, bubbles, and art activities from 11th February - till then, Terry will be serving cakes and hot drinks in the cafe, with books and toys set out for play, and our gardens are always open for wintertime explorations.

The adult booking a space for their children will enjoy a hot drink, on us!

Nature Tots and Kids

BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL DURING THE WARMER MONTHS Book tickets to Nature Tots (0-5) or Kids (0-11) stay and play for children. We are an outdoor group with a focus on nature and all its bountiful gifts - come dressed for the weather and sensory play (i.e. mess)! Book five separate dates in a single purchase and every child gets a free cupcake and drink, as does one accompanying adult (they can have a grown up cake). You can mix and match Nature Kids and Nature Tots events! - Nature Tots sessions run every Tuesday and Thursday during term time from 10.30am-12pm. - Additional child tickets can only be booked with One child tickets. - Family events, eg. Halloween and Christmas, are excluded from the offer. - Cash and cards are accepted at the museum's Mulberry Tearoom. - Parking is located at Coate Water - use the overflow car park if it is open.

As always, please dress for the weather. If it's been particularly #muddy out and your child's wellies are caked with the stuff, please remove them when you come inside.

Until 11th February, Nature Tots will be running as a 'lite' version - there will be toys and books, and our gardens are always open for seasonal exploration. There won't be crafts, stories, and songs, though - but when you book your child's space, you'll receive a complimentary hot drink. ☕ A #free cake for the adult 🍰 and every child 🧁 if you book more than five dates in a single purchase, too!

Has the excitement of the new year begun to wear off yet? #January #Blues #Winter

We're restarting #Nature Tots next Tuesday, 14th January, so beat that cabin fever, come play in our gardens, and enjoy some refreshments in our tearoom.

Our quiet browsing days start tomorrow, 8th January! We'll be open 10am - 4pm, and this is your chance to have a more peaceful look around the museum and the grounds.

For the rest of 2025, we are open:

- On the second Wednesday of every month, from 10am - 4pm (8th January, 12 February, 12 March, 9 April, 14 May, 11 June, 9 July, 3 August, 10 September, 8 October, 12 November, and 10 December);

(cont'd)

It may have been a *little* damp yesterday, but a crowd did turn out for the 2025 wassail, with music and entertainment from Swindon Folk Club and Devizes Jubilee Morris.

What a lovely ceremony - songs, dance, and waking up the apple trees with apple juice and toast! Museum director Mike confirmed we had a lovely harvest last year; let's hope it's the same in 2025.

Don't leave our trees 🌳 looking bare and sad this January - Swindon Folk Club and Devizes Jubilee Morris will be in our gardens on SUNDAY to sing, dance, and generally make a merry noise, rousing our garden's trees for a fruitful harvest 🍏🍎🍐 later in the year!

Join us at 1pm, and don't forget to bring your own 'noise makers' (read: pots and wooden spoons) and wear sensible shoes for larking about in our gardens.

We've wrapped up Nature Tots (and Kids) for 2024 - what a blast it's been!

As January and February tend to be quieter months at the museum, we will re-open on 14th January with a lower-key version of Nature Tots--we'll be setting out some toys and self-guided activities, and will hold off on the stories, songs, and bubbles till the middle of February.

It's also #WorldSoilDay - we run an outdoor stay and play for toddlers twice a week, so not much more needs to be said, surely.
