Second blog on my ten year #SailfishOS journey so far

https://www.rubdos.be/2026/04/17/my-sailfish-os-journey-apps.html

This second part goes into #apps, and what Sailfish OS looks like in practice for myself. Did I miss an app? What's your favourite Sailfish OS app?

@JeanMarcvanTol geniet van het leven en vrienden! Doen jullie goed 👍
@zandbelt GrapheneOS?
@touaregtweet It's The Muppet Show! With our Special Guest ....

Yo there @GrapheneOS, something has to be done about this social presence.

I like #GrapheneOS and want to follow along, but the daily wall of text with dozens of messages rehashing the same points re /e/ and friends is getting old. I'm sure I'm not alone. We get it. We know.

You need to do something for the people that already care. Put them first. Maybe split the debunking campaign out to a secondary profile or something like that, but stop burning the goodwill of people that already get it.

@joepbc @reithose @voorstad waarom eigenlijk niet? Al eens eerder hier op Mastodon gevraagd, maar geen antwoord 🤷‍♂️

Just muted (and unfollowed) the #GrapheneOS account, because I keep getting more posts about constant badgering against other #FOSS projects than information about GrapheneOS itself. At some point I lost track which larger #FreeSoftware project based around #Android and #AOSP hasn't clashed with the "I backed down from my position but obviously didn't" GOS leadership yet.

While often making valid points pretty much anyone disagreeing with their posts or not "doing it the GrapheneOS way" is considered an enemy at this point and this has been going on for years. Even I have been accused of supporting the "attacks and misrepresentations" before because I have been participating in discussions with others "attacking the project". Pressuring individual persons into redacting or removing previous comments appears to be a common practice used by GrapheneOS representatives. This kind of stuff has been put up with for far too long. It's been going on for years and has been tolerated or ignored by many, me included.

Wouldn't be surprised if #Motorola will drop their hardware plans with GOS at some point down the road if the worst PR management I have ever seen keeps going on like this.🤦‍♂️

It's just blowing my mind how terrible the social media presence is being handled. Journalists and security experts such as @heiseonline and @kuketzblog should pay more attention to this and not turn a blind eye.

In guess the #RSS feed for new software releases will do just fine. Just too tired of this shit. I will keep using the system (for now) but I certainly don't enjoy promoting it. GrapheneOS is technically a fine project but their official PR management and communication is absolutely terrible and that certainly casts a long shadow over the project.

@cryptgoat @heiseonline @kuketzblog Amen 🙏. I totaly agree with you on this point.
