Writing code, mostly to help people charge their electric vehicles. I'm a contributor to the OCPI and OCPP standards in that space.

Riding my bike far away, with a tent and a sleeping bag and all that.

Trying to play a guitar and also a mandolin (doom metal and punk and bluegrass).

Holder of a lot of opinions but at this point I'm trying to keep my mouth shut about those.

Living in Edmonton, Canada. Formerly in the Netherlands, in Amsterdam, Utrecht or Didam.

@frank Yeah, don't worry about the weather. Compared to the countries around the North Sea, Canada gets more frost and snow, but also more sun, and less rain and wind.

@Static_7B I tap 7, it shows 6. What I assume is happening: their code gets a date from the datepicker, stores it as a timestamp for midnight UTC or midnight Dutch time of that date, and when it comes to display, does the conversion of the timestamp to Edmonton time and displays the date of the result.

I'm reading into the behaviour I'm seeing, so I could be wrong.

This is in the NS International app BTW.

So while "use UTC internally and local time for display" is often good advice, as a Dutchman living in Canada, you get to notice the cases where it isn't. Like if my birth date is the seventh of the month, don't show it to me as the sixth because our clocks run behind yours. #coding #software

Actively snowing and -12 in broad daylight. Meteorological Spring? My ass!

Anyhow, #yegbike wise it's not bad as the snow is fluffy and you cut right through. Presumably it won't be cold and snowing long enough to build the sort of rutted ice cake that can make winter biking difficult.

@robyn @Daveography My informed guess is both rain and snow. I am at home and the question is whether I should risk going to speedskating later.
@Crabby_Consultant Looks like they faced a choice between hitting the sign and pushing the windrow back into the car lane, and then thought outside the box and did this instead. Which doesn't make it right, but clears the plow operator and lays the blame with the road design.

Timelapse of the eerie fog off the river this morning.
