Bikes, newspapers, and libraries, but I guess I am an internet dad now, though I used to be a utopian. That worked out well for everyone.
Alas, poor Yorick. All your japes, gone.

I watched the transformation play out in my own mind

“Kamala's weird. And she's a cop, I don't know…"

But the contrast between Harris and Trump is irresistible. She's got energy and a sharp edge honed from a long career working her way up the system.

Suddenly, Harris was looking PRETTY good.

They say the healthy antidote to nihilism is absurdism, and it was in this spirit that the KHive suddenly grew into a big tent.

Coconut memes everywhere. Irony transmuted to conviction.

This is somewhat to be expected, but you would only know about this if you're actually engaged with TikTok, the bleeding edge culture laboratory carefully maintained by an opaque algorithm, and with the dying gasps of Twitter

The MOMENT maneuvering on behalf of Harris began, something strange happened among both leftists AND young people

It was as if everyone kind of looked at each other, grinned, shrugged, and said “why not? this could ACTUALLY work”

Despair was replaced by possibility.

Canada's early climate collapse alarm has gone off
30 billion trees burned in one "fire season" and it has not gone out
30 billion trees is more than the entire history of logging in Canada
30 billion trees, an area larger than Ireland, lost, twice

Twice

Not Ireland's forests. Ireland's forests would have burned before the fire season started. ALL OF Ireland, from shore to coast was burned into the roots every inch, twice.

Thats the alarm. Carbon fuel is a murderous serial killer

Another all too barren spring in NYC. There should be so many insects, so many ants, so many tiny creatures filling the parks, hitting the windshields of cars.

Remember when bugs used to hit the windshields of cars because the air was so full of life?

I guess most people think this is 'improvement' but they are wrong. There is a campaign to put the American bumblebee on the endangered species list!

We are living in an eerie lifeless netherworld and I don't know why more can't see it!

@waldoj nailed it. megaphone was the top distributor of podcasts over rss when Spotify bought them. Now they use listener profiling for people who listen on Spotify to serve programmatic ads over RSS that are more creepily targeted. It’s still downloaded ads that don’t get tracked when you play them when you listen to the Megaohone feed, but it still punches through the bastion of “uhh basically just geoIP” for podcast ad targeting.

The term "Luddite" has become synonymous with "technophobe" but that's not what the Luddites were about. They were a labour movement that fought to give workers control over the technology that was advancing without oversight and rapidly automating them out of their jobs. Sound familiar?

"Luddite" as a pejorative was a technocrat PR coup.
