đź” I wanted to see how well AI could help me generate ideas by borrowing UX/UI concepts/features from other industries.

Amazing. I personally believe some of my best ideas come from looking at what's being done in other industries. So, I was THRILLED when the results were super insightful, easy to build upon, etc.

Some of the ideas weren't as original, would be interesting to suggest more obscure industry comparisons.

đź” Restest of @amaya_arie6 "quick idea pitches + worst-case scenario teardown."

I used the NN/g GPT for this retest and I don't think it was as effective at creating those punchy, one-liners that Amaya generated. It's too serious!

However, it suggested using the risk insights to develop design guardrails or “do this, not that” guidelines to inform concept development — and I loved the results!

đź” Using HMW questions for concept generation.

I've been skeptical about the utility of ChatGPT for GOOD concept generation, but I was pleasantly surprised in my experiment! These were really well grounded and I think would be a great, low barrier of entry for kick-starting the ol' brain when the creative juices just aren't flowing.

@lmvinese I've been loving the suggested follow-up actions almost more than my original experiments, tbh. Glad I'm not the only one! This was really interesting, I loved that you prompted specifically from the perspective of a UXD group. Do you think the specificity gave you better results?
@kimayac I need to start using the word "fantastical" in my everyday vocab!

@jmonjan this was really interesting! It's kind of similar to generating ideas based off of different user stories, but I liked that this put you more in the "shoes" of your user (first person POV).

I wonder what would've happened if you'd asked the system to create the user perspectives as well, maybe based on a broad problem statement. Something to think about!

@amaya_arie6 this is really interesting! I've been thinking about using Claude in this phase because it is a lot better at diagramming than ChatGPT.

I also thought the way it visualized everything was very "design-research-y" lol. Felt like something I would see on a FigJam board!

@amaya_arie6 I love this! I think LLM's are really good at creating those one-liners — and I loved the names it gave your ideas too! The worst-case-scenarios are actually really powerful, helping you consider problems before you encounter them.

I tried reverse brainstorming, but I'll have to try this next! I really appreciate how digestible it is.

Generating HMW questions and using them for reverse brainstorming. The results were both hilarious and insightful.

I laughed out loud at, "Add a 'feeling lucky' button that fills your Experience section with AI hallucinations."

On the flipside, the "Realistic but Risky" ideas made me think more about long term impact. This could be a lightweight method to "move slow and fix things" in an agile environment.

Transitioning from DEFINE to IDEATE. In this experiment, I did a retest of Leighann's user story template and worked with the GPT to prioritize them based on product impact.

As a solo designer I might've just picked the one that resonated with me the most. I think this was more objective and made me consider other factors external to user needs/desires.
