Made chocolate truffles together with our youngest daughter. They're rather large and not very elegant, but really tasty😋

Apparently $3,310 for #OpenAccess is a bargain nowadays? This promotional message from a society journal* I used to like is ridiculously tone-deaf.

* Society journal, but published by a major commercial publisher. I'm not sure about its ownership structure.

What are the most widely held works? We found roughly four different types, but let me single out the works by 'public intellectuals'. These are well-known figures who are often in the media and on TV, and whose books can reach bestseller status. And yes, these are almost all men. (6/n)

There are many books (about 41%) that are not in any local library, even though at least one author or editor worked at a Flemish university. As you might expect, public libraries have far less of these books, especially if they are peer-reviewed or in English (or any other language than Dutch).

Libraries of the same type tend to have similar collections. Overall, university libraries have the most general collections. (4/n)

Very proud of our PhD students Cristina Arhiliuc, Eline Vandewalle, and Hongyu Zhou, all of whom delivered excellent presentations of their interesting research at #ressh2024 #ressh. Moreover, Hongyu @ZhouHy received one of the Best Student Paper awards👏
Right. That didn't take long.
