I cannot stress this enough: do not visit the US.

If you’ve booked a holiday, cancel it.

@Mer__edith do the donations come anywhere close to covering the costs?

If not, I think that next year it will become important to start thinking about it.

With the recent Google / Chrome decision + Mozilla's future up in the air we're about to enter another period of interesting times.

@AstaMcCarthy @Dylan there's a reason for the Double Speek strategy of claiming a "left bias" in public media, it distracts from the fact that news/politics are dominated by Ayn Rand stans, the directors are all lining their pockets and are all linked to right wing parties or are at the right of a centralist party.
@AstaMcCarthy @Dylan same problem in the UK with the BBC who've been lead by rightwingers since Thatcher's time, only it went off a cliff in 2010 when they put the right nutjobs in charge.
@AstaMcCarthy @Dylan it's caused by the fact that the NPO is lead by the right and the global right - are pushing hard for Twitter.
@cwebber people think it's decentralised and federated? O_O first time I've heard either of those things.
@Migueldeicaza @davew it's something a start-up needs to take on.. but monetization makes everything suck.
or something for a Signal Foundation style structure.. but then how do you get enough funding?
@Migueldeicaza @davew I've spent a bit of time looking at this in the decentralised semantics / trust-over-ip communities. there are some very interesting ideas but I miss the will (and ability) to get it done. one of the things I was working on (and still loosely follow) is a kind of privacy control plane over data (bases, S3, etc)..
