2 weeks ago I was at #38c3 surrounded by sane people. Today I went to work (advice service at a university) and remembered that our web chat system is copied from the one IT support use with no modifications, and thus shows (needlessly) every single students' device type info and IP address.
I think I will try to get some Mate tomorrow so I can have a strong #tschunk ...

I should add that I'm not fluent, although I did watch several German talks with 70-80% understanding. My family are from near Frankfurt, but I learned most of my German from my best friend (southern Austria) and a communist kangaroo (lately Berlin, but previously unsure. Perhaps a trace of Stuttgart.)
On a related #38c3 note, today was first day back at work after several days of speaking German, English, and a lot of Denglish. My (English speaking only) colleagues were thus confused when I greeted them with "Moin olles, wie geht's?"
*Non-German speakers: 'moin' is regional for (good) morning, 'olles' is opposite end of the country (I think) regional for all/everyone, 'wie geht's' is just how's it going.
#38c3 COVID status:
Tested before I flew
Tested while there (once we found where the tests were)
Tested since returning home
All negative!
So, good news, this horrible cold is just a DIFFERENT and friendlier coronavirus! Somehow that doesn't help.
I masked approx 50% of the time, next year I will bring a stock of FFP2 masks. Or maybe a full hazmat suit. My goal for #39c3 is to leave with nothing picked up for free except stickers...
