It’s Jack Dorsey after seeing @[email protected] after Alex gave a talk about ditto community nostr server that brings a fediverse instance experience to Nostr.
Hey Mastodon folks… I was looking at the mastodon specs for webfinger and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the server / domain of a user’s webfinger doesn’t have to be the same as where their ActivityPub server.
So I put up this webfinger file: https://nos.social/.well-known/webfinger?resource=acct:[email protected]
Which points to my Nostr account as served by the mostr.pub ActivityPub server / gateway to Nostr. It correctly loads the profile, but then shows this error. What’s up?
I just had a comment removed from instagram for violating their community standards. Apparently they think I’m spamming for mentioning Unicode I guess. Honestly I’m not sure. It was in response to a instagram rule asking why the kiwi bird isn’t an emoji.
I posted it once, and to a instagram post from someone I’m following. I don’t think I’ve made a comment about Unicode or emojis on instagram before.
This is crazy.
This is what an open social ecosystem looks like, lots of content types where the user can use many apps with the same data and identity. The fediverse could do this but it’s held back by its fundamental design as a network of walled off fiefdoms.

Live stream of the #nostrasia Nostr conference in Tokyo for the next three days.
The “Burden of the Beast” piece by @sabatomstudios was probably the most timely and prophetic art at #burningman2023
It is made out of reclaimed materials from houses destroyed from climate disasters in New Orleans. It depicts the way in our homes and lives would migrate to safer places escaping the impact of climate change if we lived in a Miyazaki movie.
I managed to upset some folks on bluesky when I suggested they need to focus less on kicking folks off of the one server running now and instead focus on moderation for when federation is enabled. I’m curious what folks in the fediverse think.
