This was definitely part of it.
I stepped away from a pretty good senior cybersec position a few months ago. Remains to be seen if this is permanent retirement, a sabbatical, or just some voluntary unemployment.
But I foresee a number of issues around "AI" adoption, both directly and indirectly in #infosec this coming year.
The supply chain stuff, and general quality problems from "good enough" code are going to explode attack surfaces.
and let me say this straight up:
Silicon Valley techbros have more class solidarity among them than their workers.
it is no coincidence that they unleashed the grift of #AI as unionization was gaining momentum among workers in the largest companies; especially Amazon, Apple and Google.
the main purpose of #AIslop is to kill any unionization efforts by tech workers.
now, more than ever, tech workers need to organize into guilds thatβll represent them beyond employment.

Mozilla exec 1: Damn. Not enough people fell for our AI bullshit. What do?
Mozilla exec 2: Give them a "free" VPN.
1: What will we do with all that data?
2: Remember that AI bullshit?
Both: evil laugh but awkward and cringe
Donβt tell me youβre surprised.

As was largely obvious, AI tooling isn't making the attackers much better, just faster. Like, significantly faster.
