If you are interested, please come.
I enjoyed speaking at a session on history writing at the Times Litfest Delhi 2019. It was great to share the stage with Parvati Sharma sahiba, Sutapa Basu sahiba and Dipankar Mukherjee sa'ab.
My friend Ramachandran Venkatesh informs me that renowned historian Prof Harbans Mukhia delivered the 14th Dr Asghar Ali Engineer Memorial Lecture at The Asiatic Society of Mumbai in which he mentioned Abu'l Fazl's Akbarnama as a primary source on Akbar, and my book, Allahu Akbar, as a good secondary source. Honoured!
Dear readers, my brother went to Select Citywalk mall at Saket a little while ago. There, he landed at Crossword Bookstore and found my book, Allahu Akbar, prominently displayed there. He clicked some pics that I'm sharing here. I hope these tempt you to pick up my book!
I had at a panel talk in Guwahati earlier this month pointed out the organised attempt by the Hindutva brigade to portray Ahom general Lachit Barphukan as a "Hindu hero" and Assam's Chhatrapati Shivaji, and the Ahom-Mughal conflict as a Hindu-Muslim war. This validates my point.
Some moments of the session I moderated at the Times Litfest Preview in Chandigarh last evening. It was great fun talking to General V P Malik (Retd) and Lt Gen Amar Aul (Retd) on the Kargil War and their experiences of it.
Comrades, I am making an appearance in The Dialogue with Kangkana Goswami on NE News at 9.30 PM tonight. Please watch.
Godi mein chale aaooooo...(that terrific guitar rhythm starts)...hoooo hum se sanam kya parda...hooo hum se sanam kya parda....shh! shh! shh! shh!
Comrades, my book, Allahu Akbar: Understanding the Great Mughal in Today's India, was launched on Sunday evening in Guwahati by eminent intellectual and social scientist Dr. Hiren Gohain at the 21st Northeast Book Fair. He gave a detailed lecture on my book too, spanning over 40 minutes, and endorsed it. It was my lucky day!
