We live what most people consider a sustainable life, but it's not On 2.5 acres, grow our fresh food, milk, eggs, some cheese, some meat, nuts and grains. We supplement our woodfired stove which cooks food, heats the house and hot water with a 1.8kwh solar system. We drive maybe 2-3 times a week, but in a rural area, that amounts to around 60km. We do our best not to buy plastic, that shit happens, and compost our shit, because that shit happens too. But it's still not sustainable
Eat My Shadow, Book I has been released in a larger format with a new cover. We matched it to Book II, Button Up Buttercup which is due to be released... TOMORROW!

Where are the people talking CHANGE - my feed is full of nothing much but how bad shit is. Gandalf get out your wand!

Growing oats - Avena nuda - naked oats at home, cleaning them, threshing them (forgot to film that part) - flaking them and feeding the 'waste' to the goats. Trev taste tested fresh porridge. Incomparable he says, smooth, creamy, rich and nutty. Usually I eat them with homegrown toasted pepitas and homegrown sultanas or raisins. We had a go flaking them with a pasta roller, and it worked well, just slower.
15kg of oats this year. Goal is to grow a years worth next season.
#homegrownI've want a Museum of Lost Skills. A place people can learn basketry, make a barrel, turn wood. People might throw pots from wild clay. Turn raw wool into a jumper, weave linen, make paper and ink. I'm up for skinning a feral animal and making shoes. How about turning weeds into string, starting a fire, maybe even relearn how to make a wheel! Real world skills for our unreal world.
If there was such a thing as a Museum of Lost Skills, what would you like to learn? Or better - teach!
#preppingI'd be telling a lie if I said I'd finished writing Book II, Button Up Buttercup, but it's VERY close. Sharing is always difficult. Finally having eyes on it that aren't my own. I'm so deeply enmeshed in the characters and the story there's grief in completion. My brain can't tell the difference between them being real and being lies.
Book III awaits. It's SO big. I write books to change the world.
No fibs.
I love looking through people's bookshelves! It gives you an idea who they are.
I'm a knowledge prepper. When Google is gone my descendants will have something to refer to. They might make a difference to their lives, maybe even save them. Have problem? I have the book for that!
Tomorrow I'll show you around the Loobrary, maybe even the launbry!
What prepping books would you recommend?

And that's why we need to reimagine the world where we have an economic system that (instead of being a cult) incentivises the flourishing of people and planet and we realign with what is possible, rather than assume we can live the impossible.
That dream is a nightmare.
