@Gargron and all the top #Mastdodon instances need to start preparing for the idea that Twitter itself is on a relative fast route to bankruptcy. 💣

Need Mid-term plans for how the top instances can scale dramatically on hardware, stat. And streamlined onboarding of new users choosing instances to spread the user load.

As a community NOW we need to encourage everyone who is thinking about it to start their own instance. This is coming.

Do some #mastodon instances have different maximum toot lengths? I’ve noticed that some toots on the federated timeline seem to be a fair bit longer than 500 characters.
