I made an audio plugin for Firefox. Its DSP chain includes a multiband dynamic range upwards and downwards compressor, EQ, and limiter.

I've known Montreal was home for a long time, but going to Lumière Noire this weekend and running into *dozens* of friends and friendly aquaintances in every room just hits so hard. And knowing so many of the artists who contributed to the magic, and the electric amount of talent. And the the whole vibe being so full of love. Can't touch it.

From an "Other 98%" post on fb:

"Minneapolis isn’t “responding” to ICE anymore. Minneapolis is organizing to OUTLAST ICE. After weeks of escalated federal immigration enforcement in Minnesota, the Twin Cities are doing something the rest of the country keeps saying it wants but rarely builds: an everyday, neighborhood-level infrastructure that makes state violence harder to pull off in silence.

Here’s what that infrastructure looks like on the ground: Signal chats that spread sightings in minutes, people walking around with whistles, neighbors showing up fast when someone’s being cornered, and ordinary folks choosing “I’m watching” as a civic identity.

In a Jacobin interview, Minneapolis organizer Aru Shiney-Ajay describes a staggering density of participation, including neighborhood chats reaching “over 4 percent” of residents and rapid-response patrol chats that hit 1,000 people in a single neighborhood by late morning.
That matters because ICE thrives on logistics and isolation. You cannot “community statement” your way out of a federal dragnet. You have to interrupt the machine where it eats and sleeps and hides.

That’s why Minneapolis didn’t just stay defensive. It went on offense.
Activists have targeted the “pillars” that let ICE operate like an occupying force: hotels, rental cars, corporate partners, the quiet, normal places where repression refuels.

A local campaign that pushed a Hilton-branded hotel to refuse service to ICE, triggering national blowback and a corporate scramble. What makes this smart isn’t the spectacle. It’s the leverage. A regime can ignore outrage. It can’t ignore friction inside the supply chain that keeps its agents moving.

Then came the proof-of-concept flex: the January 23 “ICE Out” general strike day in Minneapolis and beyond, called by unions and community groups as a refusal of business as usual under terror.

This was a muscle-building exercise: can we coordinate, can we hold lines, can we protect each other, can we make the city ungovernable for people who think they can hunt humans here?
This is what resistance looks like when it grows up. Not just rage. Routines. Not just protest. Infrastructure.

And that’s the real exportable lesson: if you want ICE out of your city, don’t wait for permission from pundits or politicians. Build networks that make disappearance difficult, complicity expensive, and solidarity automatic."

(1/2) STATEMENT FROM THE KNK

This succinct, single-page statement from the KNK released today is very powerful. I urge people to share it widely on social media and also with any media outlets, political representatives, and other contacts people have.

URGENT PRESS RELEASE

SYSTEMATIC ERADICATION AND MASS ATROCITY AGAINST THE KURDS IN SYRIA

The attacks that began on 6 January 2026 in the Kurdish neighborhoods of Aleppo represent not an
isolated outbreak of violence, but the opening phase of a long-prepared military and political
campaign aimed at dismantling Kurdish existence and self-rule in Syria. While formally conducted
under the banner of the Syrian Transitional Government, these operations are executed by jihadist
militias whose strategic coordination, logistical supply, and political backing are decisively provided
by the Turkish state. The silence, hesitation, or indirect acquiescence of international actors
(including anti-ISIS coalition) —particularly those that once designated the Syrian Democratic Forces
(SDF) as a strategic partner—has transformed this assault from a regional conflict into a profound
indictment of global moral and political failure.

Over the past weeks, the humanitarian consequences have reached catastrophic levels. Hundreds of
thousands of civilians have been forcibly displaced, hundreds have been killed, and entire
communities have been deprived of access to food, clean water, medical care, fuel, and electricity
amid harsh winter conditions. Critical civilian infrastructure has been systematically targeted. The city
of KobanĂŞ, now under heavy military attack, several civilians killed and deliberate siege, faces an
unfolding humanitarian disaster and an acute risk of mass atrocity. These actions constitute grave
violations of international humanitarian law, while the international community’s posture of merely
“monitoring with concern” amounts, in practice, to complicity through inaction.

The jihadist armed groups loyal to Ahmed al-Sharaa have repeatedly violated announced truces
through targeted attacks, provocations, and cross-border actions, using ceasefires solely to
consolidate territorial control and prepare for further escalation.

We therefore urgently call upon the international community to take the following steps:

1. AN IMMEDIATE, CREDIBLE, AND INTERNATIONALLY MONITORED CEASEFIRE:
An international
monitoring mission must be deployed without delay to document conditions and violations on
the ground in real time.

2. THE LIFTING OF SIEGES AND ESTABLISHMENT OF PERMANENT HUMANITARIAN CORRIDORS:
Secure
and internationally guaranteed humanitarian corridors must be established to all besieged
areas, particularly KobanĂŞ.

3. A POLITICAL PROCESS RECOGNIZING KURDISH SELF-DEFENSE AND SELF GOVERNANCE:
An internationally guaranteed political process must be re-launched that formally recognizes the
Kurdish people’s right to self-defense and democratic self-governance within a decentralized
Syria.

The solidarity shown by the global public has been a vital source of hope and deserves sincere
recognition. Today, while the situation may not yet meet the highest legal thresholds of international
crimes, it is clearly an ongoing massacre with an immediate and grave risk of further mass atrocity.
This danger is real and urgent.

Belarusian government persecutes radio amateurs and sentences operators (life sentence or death penalty is at stake). Andrey Repetiy (EW1ABT) and Nikita Krasko (EW1AEH) were forced to publicly repent for the "crime" of technical curiosity and international communication. They were coerced on TV to renounce their own technical expertise as something harmful. Vyacheslav Benko (EW1ACE) remains behind bars alongside them.

Lukashenko's propagandists presented the Belarusian Federation of Radioamateurs and Radiosportsmen (BFRR) as nothing more than a front for a "massive spy network" designed to "pump state secrets from the air." Propagandists claim that over fifty people have already been detained and more than five hundred units of radio equipment have been seized. These men have been indicted for High Treason and Espionage. Under the Belarusian Criminal Code, these charges carry sentences of life imprisonment or even the death penalty.

MAYDAY from the airwaves: Belarus begins a death penalty purge of radio amateurs | by Siarhei Besarab - Freedium

Behind the absurdity of charging Baofeng users with &#39High Treason&#39 lies a terrifying...

I'm so happy that the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms seems to be exactly what it should be, a class struggle story with all the dimensions and subtext of the novellas. đź–¤

Also not to harp on it, but it may be the first time any of the ASoIaF shows had two working class characters talk to each other. 🫣 After the meaningless palace soap opera the last one has been, this is a 180.

The frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere, and even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.
The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort.
It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear.
And know this, the day will come when all these skirmishes and battles, these moments of defiance will have flooded the banks of the Empire's authority and then there will be one too many.
