And I'm the Monster Hunter caveman of the household, I'm not opposed to a good action game!! lmao
But Fatal Frame??? It should be tense, not tedious.
Not that I think trying to divert to a more action-y combat system was a good idea in the first place lmao.
The cleverness of the original FF series combat was that it was a matter of patience: the longer you lingered on the frightening ghost, the closer the shot, the more damage you did. But the remake requires that the player be really aggressive between the new stamina and ghost enrage/HP regen mechanics. It's weird.
An easily overlooked but crucial tip for fixing this and avoiding weird and uneven, elevated blocks: with a stock of water, holding ZL and then hitting left or right on the d-pad adjusts the water level.
hate it when you try to slurp up some seaweed at the bottom of the ocean and take a bad sippy (fuck up the level of the ocean blocks)
i missed,
oh no
oh no, wait, I can fuck off into High Level Places I Shouldn't Be In and get eggs from monster dens there???
(temptation increasing)
Trying out the Monster Hunter Stories 3 demo... I wasn't sure about looking into it, but it might snag me yet with randomized monstie skills. I do love to collect critters for various situations that may or may not come to pass. Just in case.
The animations are also *extremely* juicy and satisfying, wowie.
