Quoting Victor Glover: ""And it ain't about racism. It's about the human condition.""
Kind of wild to see this song highlighted by the lead astronaut...after just posting it. That being said, the song is most definitively about racism and the disfranchisement of Black Americans and the completely lack of help provided to them by the US government for generations, and to this day for that matter.
Current day, It fits in very well to our politics (almost like nothings changed at all...) and encompassing more people into the fold due to growing class divides, but you can't deny the messaging for the 60s.

Now that I'm on the topic of facial recognition, I haven't heard much from the backlash in the wake of Ring Cameras SuperBowl commercial and their ai "Search Party" feature to "find lost dogs"...have people been dumping their cameras en mass?
Truly out of black mirror.

Some TSA in the past actually thanked me for requesting to opt out.
Ending with: "Also, I appreciate you letting me know beforehand. Sometimes people ask me after the fact and yell at me."
I'd imagine not every TSA would be so understanding and I'd imagine these ICE agents will generally put up a hissy fit to not go the extra step and pull a power trip over US citizens.

Reminder: Its well within your rights to opt-out of facial recognition at US airports. When walking up to the ID check, go right to the attendant and tell them you'd like to opt out and show this printable card if needed.
Now that ICE is in charge of these positions, even more the reason to push back.

"The short version: When you reach the TSA checkpoint and see the camera, say "I'd like to opt out of facial recognition." They'll verify your ID the old-fashioned way. No extra screening. No delay. No attitude. That's it.
65 Airports
By spring 2026, TSA facial recognition will be at 65 airports—up from 15 in 2025
99% Weren't Told
In tests, only 1% of passengers were verbally informed they could opt out
100x Error Rate
Asian and African-American travelers misidentified up to 100x more often than white men
Your Right
Opting out is legal and should not result in extra screening or delays"

Note: Pig Butchering Scammers are really bad at translating to Spanish...
Scam text: "Hi Bill, this is Audrey. Want to come to my BBQ?"
Response: "Audrey, ¿por qué atropellaste a mi perro con tu coche? ¡Exijo una indemnización!"
Translation: "Audrey why did you hit my dog with your car?! I demand compensation!"
No Response back and less scam texts.
