Indonesia 🇮🇩 is home to 11 seahorse species, but 7 are often found in the traditional medicine trade, and we know so little about how this impacts these fishes and their habitats.

To change that, we teamed up with National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) in Indonesia to build capacity and share knowledge with nearly 200 ocean enthusiasts from government organizations, academia, research institutions and NGOs.

We are pleased to announce the publication of our latest research paper “Harnessing Community Science for Seahorse Population Monitoring: Insights from the iSeahorse Program in Tampa Bay” in Aquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems. The study showcases the important role of community science in monitoring seahorse populations to support conservation efforts.
