🤝✨ Empowering Diverse Societies ☀️🌍

The new EU joint research project We-ID led by the University of GĂśttingen is specifically designed to analyse the transformation of individual and collective identities, social cohesion and democracy in the midst of migration, demographic change and current crises in Europe.

We-ID aims to promote resilient democratic communities—through research and exchange for a diverse society.

Who is actually behind We-ID?🔎
In our new reel series, you will get to know our team and learn exciting background information about the project. We start with Arnstein Aassve from Bocconi University in Italy.

Stay tuned for more! ✨

What do we actually mean by resilient democracy? Resilient, or robust, democracies are characterized by their citizens' ability to shape their own lives, even in crisis situations. This means that even in challenging times, experiences of self-efficacy and democratic participation are present.
Why is this? This is one of the questions we ask with We-ID.

When do you feel you can help shape our society?

Let's talk!

In addition to providing insights into our research, we are particularly interested in hearing from you. Please share your experiences and opinions directly here in the comments: Does your “home” shape your identity?

What do you think?

Together in Berlin!
Today and tomorrow, the We-ID team is meeting with exciting people from politics and research to discuss issues of democratic resilience, cohesion, and belonging.

What insights would you like to gain from our kick-off event? What would you like to learn more about?

Coming soon: the We-ID project partners will gather in Berlin for our German Kick-off Conference!

Over two days, we’ll exchange perspectives on:
• Local matters still: Demographic change and urban and rural realities
• Framing migration: Disinformation, perceptions and new narratives
• Who belongs? Democratic resilience in times of polarization
• The Europe of today: Diversity, identity and democracy

We can’t wait to share insights, ideas, and inspiration. Stay tuned!

Let’s bring science into the conversation! 🔬 - Part 2/2

This post continues our reflections on migration and identities.

⬅️ Haven’t seen Part 1/2 yet? You’ll find it in the previous post.
✅ With both parts combined, we can see how migration is also about navigating identities.
