Congratulations to all award winners from yesterday's #prog25 award ceremony 🎉

Today, we will have the second round of research paper presentations as well as the second round of the ACM Student Research Competition. We will announce the #SRC winners at today's conference closing 🏆

We are starting the day with a keynote by Thomas Wuerthinger on "What We Tried and Didn't Work for GraalVM".

Let's start day 2 of #prog25 with some impressions of day 1! We kicked off the conference with the #MoreVMs, #QP, and #PX workshops.

The welcome reception took place at Prague's old townhall, giving participants a unique look behind the scenes of its famous astronomical clock.

Today, no events will be streamed. The keynotes and research paper talks of the next two days will be streamed.

Only a few hours left until #prog25!

📽 Reminder that if you can't join us in Prague, you can watch the ‹Programming› stream for free. Today's streamed event is the #MoreVMs #workshop

‹Programming› 2025 - Student Volunteer Program - ‹Programming› 2025

The Student Volunteer program is a chance for students to participate in the conference whilst assisting us in preparing and running the events. In return, volunteers are granted free registration. We especially encourage students who lack alternative funding for their attendance to apply. As a ‹Programming› 2025 Student Volunteer, you will interact closely with researchers, academics, and practitioners from various disciplines and meet other students from around the world. You will also be able to attend almost all the talks. Tasks performed by student volunteers include but are not lim ...

The VIMPL #workshop is once more co-located with #prog25!

This workshop provides a forum for researchers and practitioners to discuss the (re)emergence of value independence as a theme in the user model of programming languages, its use in software applications, its use in compilers and interpreters for optimization, and the challenges related to its interaction with other modern programming language features.

Submission deadline: April 11, 2025

VIMPL 2025 - 4th Workshop on Value Independence in Modern Programming Languages - ‹Programming› 2025

The tension between unconstrained mutation and algebraic semantic reasoning has been well known at least since Backus’ 1977 Turing Award paper introducing FP. After decades of bifurcation into communities that either ignored the problem, or addressed it by insisting on strict immutability, the PL field has recently begun to explore more nuanced approaches that emphasize the independence of mutable values. Value independence upholds the ability to reason locally about semantics, from the variables mentioned alone. This ability is crucial both for human understanding of software developed a ...

The program of #prog25 now features two amazing keynotes!

Molly Wright Steenson, who is well versed in #design and #architecture as well as #AI technology, will give a talk on "Architecture and Generativity".

Thomas Wuerthinger from Oracle Labs will share some of his experience as #GraalVM project lead in his talk: "What We Tried and Didn't Work for GraalVM".
