Minneapolis now, France soon.

Formerly data science/machine learning, soon to be something else entirely.

Leaving tech, and so should you.

Gerard points out that the coming IPOs of Spacex (which now has XAI grafted onto it like a malignant tumor), OpenAI, and Anthropic will impact VC.

This is going to be terrible. My prediction is that the Spacex IPO will be lackluster, and that the S1s from OpenAI/Anthropic may just doom the companies.

I feel like we're in that scene from Total Recall where Schwarzenegger is disguised as the old lady: "get ready for a surprise!" https://youtu.be/THMhJd3XMhQ?si=lXyRtY2l8EIOnf7i

@dogiedog64 The hilarious thing we'll see with "agents" over the next 2-3 years is all the pretending around their efficacy.

Mostly because agents have already been designated as the reason for reducing head counts substantially, and, since that's already baked into planning, agents cannot be allowed to fail.

It's hilarious watching the VB chud patrol realize that "agents" are less panacea and more "massive security problem fused to a technology that doesn't even work."

Tech is a sector composed of grifters and morons.

@dogiedog64 Very creepy, and there are a host of problems that will come of it.

I'm not interested in participating in this type of nonsense.

@kwazekwaze That's absolutely what they're doing.

CEO: "Replace all your employees for the low cost of a $200/mo. Claude subscription!"

Company accountant: "Actually, Mr Amodei/Huang/Altman, our stats show average devs consuming $10K+/mo. in compute on $200/mo. plans."

CEO: "It's totally normal to spend $120K/year on compute costs for a single dev! Totally normal! You're weird/unproductive/going to be left behind if you don't spend at least $120k/year!"

These criminals — and Huang is a criminal, in addition to being the individual most responsible for the coming economic collapse — are laying the groundwork for normalizing the spectacular cost of compute devs consume.

They see the end of the massive subsidies coming, and want to normalize $10K+/mo./head compute costs. https://www.businessinsider.com/jensen-huang-500k-engineers-250k-ai-tokens-nvidia-compute-2026-3#

Jensen Huang says he would be 'deeply alarmed' if his $500,000 engineer did not consume at least $250,000 of tokens

"If that $500,000 engineer did not consume at least $250,000 worth of tokens, I am going to be deeply alarmed," says Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.

Can you imagine how badly all this will go?

The bizarre success of Peter Steinberger’s little gremlin will cause so many issues over the next few years. Tech will be unrecognizable in 2029.

And not in a good way. https://venturebeat.com/orchestration/anthropic-just-shipped-an-openclaw-killer-called-claude-code-channels

Another reason I'm leaving tech: the increasingly granular surveillance of employees is, frankly, creepy and unacceptable. https://www.ft.com/content/5ee9d5f1-9b9b-4aee-8712-111e873e241a

@davidsirota The French came up with a very humane way to deal with a ruling class that acts with impunity like this.

A simple invention by a certain doctor named Guillotin.
